CHILD SPONSORSHIP
In Malawi not every child completes primary school and even less go on to secondary education. The major reason for this is not because of a lack of ability or motivation but because of a lack of opportunity. Child sponsorship helps to alleviate this problem by providing the funds needed for a child to receive extra education. Your sponsorship increases their opportunities for the future.

Background
For the majority in Malawi primary education is free but secondary education comes at a cost. For many people, especially those from subsistence farming families in rural areas, this is unaffordable. This in many ways is a tragic and unfair barrier to education. Although we cannot change this system overnight, we do have the capacity to help children with funding. In our child sponsorship programme we are offering children who would not otherwise have access to further education the chance to continue and progress with their studies.
How the Child Sponsorship project helps
We identify the most vulnerable children, those whose families are unable to support them or those who are without a family at all. The children in the scheme are those who enjoy learning and show promise in their work and whose only obstacle to further learning are financial constraints. From our sponsors we ask for a commitment to support a child throughout their secondary education and ensure them a brighter future. Your support will cover the cost of school fees, exam fees and any additional materials needed. The children will also receive support with their learning from volunteers on the ground in Malawi. The volunteers are there to ensure the children have every opportunity to get the most out of their secondary education and are given the chance to thrive.
